For today, tomorrow and the future...

        horsemanship. Lessons are available in:

Hunt Seat on the Flat / Fences
         Saddle Seat
         Western
         Driving
         Ground Work

Fitting and Showmanship

        students learn about:

           Balanced and Centered Riding
           Cadence of Motion

"Horse Physics"
           Body Language
           Proactive Horse Keeping

Hourly private lessons are available at $30 dollars an hour, year round, rain or shine in our  outdoor and indoor arenas. Every new student starts with a grooming and tack up lesson for students to get to know their mounts, Anna and the 'lay of the land' in the barn. Students are expected to arrive a 1/2 hour early to prepare and to stay after for cooling out their horses.

Active students in Abruzzi's lesson program are welcome to spend extra time in the barn honing their skills in grooming, braiding and ground handling along with parts of the horse, tack and regular daily care. Active students may also 1/2 lease horses from our lesson program or those who are privately boarder here on the farm when they are ready to "put on the miles". Ready for a long term lease or to purchase a horse for yourself? Abruzzi can help search for a horse of your very own.

Meet the Lesson Horses

'Maize'
Known in the barn as 'Miss Mazzie' or "Mae Mae', this little Morgan is the prettiest Palomino we know! An excellent Western or Classic Pleasure mount Maize teaches everyone who meets her the value of being present with your charge and the reward of building trust.

'Cindy' RIP 1990-2010
The original World's Best, Cindy was our foundation lesson horse.  She spent the last four years teaching valuable and honest lessons on the cross ties, under saddle and in harness. Her presence in the barn is greatly missed.

'Whisper'
Whisper is a 13 year Morab who LOVES to  jump. Currently being ground driven in training, "Mister' is expected to be hooked to drive soon! An excellent mount for the intermediate rider and up, his riders earn every step.

                                                                      'Abby'
This seasoned competitor and Anna go
way back! Fondly referred to as 'Flabby'
this fancy Morgan Mare is teaching a new
generation of students to walk, trot and
canter and will care many of them to their
first show. Don't be fooled, this girl can
also keep a seasoned rider on their toes
teaching upper level body carriage. A big
thank you to her mom Laura for lending us
                                               this precious creature!

'Bill'
Bill joined the Abruzzi herd in the fall of 2011 and is a welcomed asset to our thriving lesson program. This 18 years old Haflinger gelding is a patient teacher to our smallest students for grooming and ground handling and builds confidence during their first solo rides.
